How To Screenshot On Mac: They are different ways to take screenshots on a mac computer. The most straight forward definition of a screenshot is a digital image that shows the contents of a computer display; I suppose you know that already. In this article, we will be showing you how to take a screenshot on Mac.

If your operation on your machine requires you to take a screen capture on your Mac, we are here for you. They are three to four ways of taking screenshots on your MacBook. The fourth method comes in for Macs that have a touch bar. One of these methods is new, former macOS Mojave users may recall it. It is now present in macOS Catalina.

They are two methods that are further divided on how to take screenshots on your mac book. I’ll be starting more conventionally.

Method 1: Take A Screenshot On A PC Using Keyboard Shortcuts 

You don’t need to have macOS Mojave to use these shortcut keys, though they work in Mojave perfectly well.

To Capture the entire screen.

Click Shift-Command-3, then find the screenshot as a “.png” file on your desktop screen or use the Finder.

To Capture a window

  1. Press Shift-Command-4.

  3. Click a window to capture that window.
    To exclude the window’s shadow from the screenshot, press and hold the Option  () key while you click.
  4. Locate the screenshot as a .png file on your desktop or use your Finder.

To Capture a highlighted portion of the screen.

  1. Press Shift-Command-4.
  2. Drag to highlight the area of the screen you wish to capture. To move the entire selection, press and hold Space bar while dragging.
  3. After you release your mouse or trackpad button, find the screenshot as a .png file on your desktop or use your Finder.

To Capture a menu

  1. Click the menu to reveal its contents.
  2. Press Shift-Command-4.
  • Drag to select the area of the menu to capture, then release your mouse or trackpad button to capture that area.

3. Find the screenshot as a .png file on your desktop or use your Finder.

Method 2: MacBooks With Touch Bar

If you have a 16-inch MacBook Pro or any other model that comes with a Touch Bar, it is possible to take a screenshot of what is currently being shown in the Touch Bar. Strike the Command-Shift-6 to capture a very wide and tiny screenshot of your Touchbar.

Method 3: Taking Screenshots With Preview

Preview is like a window to many features of your Mac. With the preview menu, you can take a screenshot of your Mac.

  1.  Open the Finder and tap on “Applications” from the left.
  2.  Double-click on Preview to launch the app.
  3.  From the drop-down menu, hover your mouse or trackpad above the “Take Screenshot” option then pick a selection there.

Method 4: How To Take Screenshot And Store In A Clipboard

If you intend to copy and paste your screenshot, simply hold “Control” simultaneously with the commands above to paste the screenshot in a document, press “Command” + V.

To Markup, share, and save

After you take a screenshot, a thumbnail of the screenshot appears briefly in the lower-right corner of your screen here you can do a lot with the screenshot.

  • Take no action or swipe the thumbnail to the right, and the screenshot is automatically saved.
  • Click the thumbnail to open the screenshot. You can then edit it using the markup tools in the toolbar, or click to share it.
  • Drag the thumbnail to move the screenshot to another location, such as to a document, an email, a Finder window, or the Trash.
  • Control-click the thumbnail for more options. For example, you can change the save location, open the screenshot in an app, or delete the screenshot without saving it.
