For the record, you can Uninstall only applications that you got from the app store using the Launchpad.

Step 1: Open your Launchpad. The launchpad looks like a spaceship about to be launched towards the right part of your screen 🚀 in your Mac’s dock.

When you Launch your Launchpad, you are greeted with a list of all applications that are currently installed on your PC. Look at your Launchpad like the Task Manager on your Windows PC.

Step 2: Search for the application you want to delete, scroll to your left and to your right to scan through the list of apps you have till you get the ‘guilty’ one.

Step 3: Click on and hold the application for a while. The app’s icon starts shaking.

Step 4: An “X” sign appears at the top-left corner of the app’s icon.

If you don’t see the “X” on the icon, then this application wasn’t gotten from the Apple Mac Store and can’t be uninstalled with the launchpad(Don’t panic, there’s always a way out).

Step 5: Often than not, you’ll be prompted in a pop-up message if you wish to Delete the app, choose Yes.

Step 1: Launch the Finder app. Look for a “Blue Face Icon” this is your Finder app.

Step 2: Click on the Application tab. This tab can be found at the left side of your Finder App’s window.

Step 3: Scroll through the programs there till you locate the program you want to uninstall. If the program you wish to

delete is in a folder, open the folder and locate the programs uninstaller app(If you find an Uninstaller app, leave this section and head to the next)

Step 4: Click once on the Program’s icon to select it.

Step 5: Click on File. This is the drop-down menu at the top-left side of your screen.

Step 6: In the File menu, click on “Move To Trash” thus option is at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

You could actually use a shortcut key, simply press “Command ⌘ + Delete” to send the application to the trash.

Step 7: Now, go to your Mac dock and find the Trash icon. The trash icon looks like a refuse bin with refuse sticking out of it(You get the idea)

Click and hold the Trash icon.

Step 8: A pop-up menu appears. Click on “Empty Trash”, this option deletes all the trash contents including the program you just uninstalled in step 6.

If you don’t want to clear everything in your trash, open the Trash app and locate the program then delete it from there.

Step 4: Double-click on the uninstaller application. A pop window opens.

Step 5: Follow the instructions that are aimed to delete the app.

In most cases you’ll find an option which states that you “Delete Files”, check this box if given.

It is also possible to delete applications completely from your mac using a third-party uninstaller application.

The phrase Third-Party says a lot, it isn’t a recommended method, they are some third-party apps that do more harm than good, and some are premium tools, most still do the job.

Some third-party applications in this section include CleanMyMac X, Uninstaller, AppCleaner, AppDelete, and CleanApp.

Using AppCleaner To Uninstall Mac Applications

I saw an instruction somewhere which recommends AppCleaner, so I’ll give you a tutorial on AppCleaner. It is quite easy to use and it is free also.

Step 1: Download and Install the AppCleaner Here

Step 2: Launch the AppCleaner.

Step 3: Drag the application you wish to Uninstall.

Step 4: AppCleaner will scan your Mac and find all associated files. “Mark” the files you want AppCleaner to delete.

Step 5: Click the “Remove” button. You may be asked to log in to your administrator account to authenticate the delete.

AppCleaner then moves the app and it’s associated files to the Trash.

Access your Trash from your Mac Dock and delete it completely.

AppCleaner has what it calls “SmartDelete” this option can be found in its preference menu. It saves you the stress of “checking” every folder AppCleaner removes.

How To Clean Up Leftover Files From Your Mac
